Below I have listed reference material about the Army Nurse Corps that might be useful for all who want to get more information. Army Nurse Corps, Fold-out recruitment brochure, LX-128-RPB-12-30-43-250 . Many different recruiting brochures were distributed to encourage women to join the Army Nurse Corps during WWII. 
These official brochures give much information about purposes of  the ANC, requirements for joining, payment etc.

The Army Nurse by the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, LX-145-RPB-8-19-44-125M
This recruitment brochure describes on several pages the history of military nursing. Especially, the different tasks of Army Nurses in World War II are explained (hospital ships and trains, flying ambulance, field work). Illustrated with many black and white pictures. One page is dedicated to ANC uniforms.

United States Cadet Nurse Corps Senior Cadet Period Army Hospitals, LX-130R-RPB-8-9-44-100M This recruiting pamphlet encourages young women to join the Cadet Nurse Corps and to become an Army Nurse afterwards. It contains information about training and duty of senior cadet nurses in Army hospitals, payment, living, how to apply, etc. and  explains why a career as Army Nurse is the best option for the future life.

The Army Nurse, Volume 1, Number 12, December 1944, RPB -12-12-44-20M and Volume 2, Number 3, March 1945, RPB -3-16-45-15M by the Nursing Division Office of the Surgeon General.
These magazines for Army Nurses, Medical Department Dietitians, Medical Department Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapy Aides contained interesting information about reports from the different theaters of operations, questions asked by magazine reader and official answers, descriptions of special tasks (like working on a hospital train), details about  new uniform developments and much  more.

Army Service Forces Quartermaster Supply Catalog, 3-2, List of Items for Troop Issue: WACs' and Nurses' clothing and equipment The Quartermaster Supply catalogs include many items that were issued to the WAC with pictures, stock-numbers and short descriptions. A most important reference material for WAC uniform collectors.

Army Regulations No. 600-35 Personnel, Prescribed Service Uniform, War Department, November 10, 1941. These pre-war Army Regulations contain a list of Army Nurses's clothing and show which garments were provided to nurses at the begin of World War II.

Uncle Sam needs Nurses by the Amercian National Red Cross, Washington, D.C., ARC 779, Jan., 1941. Pre-war brochure which foresees the war emergency and encourage nurses to join the Red Cross (and in case of war additionally the Army Nurse Corps or Navy Nurse Corps). Detailed information about the tasks of nurses in the ARC, NNC, ANC, requirements of joining, payment, uniforms.

This book recounts the story of Army Nurses from the forerunners of the corps in Revolutionary War days up to World War II. An important part of the book is devoted to the training of Army Nurses, how they live, the customs and etiquette of the corps, career options - meant to encourage young nurses to join the Army Nurse Corps.

Nancy Dale - Army Nurse by Ruby Lorraine Radford, Whitman Publishing Company (1944) This fictional  book for young readers describes the experiences of Army Nurse Nancy Dale from her training stage to her adventurous experiences in the South Pacific where she finally saves the life of her Army pilot brother who was lost in action.

. The movie tells the story of Army Nurses trapped behind enemy lines in the early days of the Pacific war. The self-sacrificing head nurse struggles to minister to the wounded and to keep her staff from buckling under the pressure. The head nurse (played by Claudette Colbert) finds her true love despite the horror of war and nearly looses her mind when her lover dies during the fall of Bataan. Impressive wartime movie.

"Up in Arms" directed by Elliott Nugent, Color (1944), Type: Comedy, Musical
The Hypochondriac Danny Weems gets drafted into the army and gets himself and his fellow GIs in much trouble. He is in love with Army Nurse Mary who loves his best friend Joe. In the end, Danny not only becomes a war hero by capturing several Japanese soldiers, he also notices that Army Nurse Virginia is in love with him.

Cry Havoc directed by Richard Thorpe, Black and White (1943), Type: War/Drama Two Army Nurses on Bataan during WWII need desperately help to treat the wounded soliders. They are only able to recruit a motley group of women without any medical experience to volunteer. As the Japanese army forces most of the American troops to retreat from Bataan, the nurses and the female volunteers  remain, tending to the miserable wretches left behind to defend a defenseless post.

Army Surgeon directed by Edward Sutherland, Black and White (1942) Type: War/Drama On board a transport ship bound for Europe during WWII, an Army Nurse remembers her experiences as Army Nurse in World I where she served near the frontlines and finally found her true love.

A History of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps by Mary T. Sarnecky, University of Pennsylvania Press, ISBN 0-8122-3502-9 (1999)  . Extensive study about the history of the Army Nurse Corps from its antecedents to the Vietnam War. It describes in detail the tremendous job nurses did and what they endured during the various decades.

G.I. Nightingales - The Army Nurse Corps in World War II by Barbara Brooks Tomblin, University Press of Kenntucky, ISBN 0-8131-9079-7 (1996) Informative and well researched history of the Army Nurse Corps during WWII. The oral histories of several nurses are included. Single chapters in the  book give credit to the nursers serving in different theaters of operations.

In Defense of a Nation - Servicewomen in World War II by Major General Jeanne M. Holm, USAF (Ret.), Vandamere Press, ISBN 0-918339-43-X (1998) This book contains excellent overviews of several WWII women's organization (like WAVES, SPARS, WAC, ANC, NNC, WASP, Women Marines) illustrated with nice black and white photographs.

Dressed for Duty. America's Women in Uniform 1898-1973 (Volume One) by Jill Halcomb Smith, R. James Bender Publishing, ISBN 0-912138-85-8 (2004) The two volumes about women's organizations of the last century cover all military branches and especially give interesting details about several mostly forgotten civilian organizations. 
They contain many original photographs and some color pictures of uniform items.
The chapter about the ANC is in Volume 1.

Combat Flying Clothing - Army Flying Clothing through World War II by C.G. Sweeting, Smithsonian Institution Press (1984) This book contains a paragraph about the development of women's flying clothes which were relevant for Army Flight Nurses.

This book tells moving stories of Army Nurses behind the frontlines. It is based on eyewitness accounts and gives many details about those brave women whose tremendous contribution to the war efforts are often overlooked.

We Band of Angels - The Untold Story of American Nurses Trapped on Bataan by the Japanese by Elizabeth M. Norman, Pocket Books, ISBN 0-671-78718-7 (1999) . Impressive account of the first American women to proove their mettle under combat conditions during World War II. The book tells the story of three years of brutal captivity of these women in a Japanese camp for prisoners of war. The narrative story relies on letters, diaries and firsthand accounts.

Angels of Mercy - The Army Nurses of World War II by Betsy Kuhn, Athenum Books for Young Readers, ISBN 0-689-82044-5 (1999) The book tells several stories about Army Nurses who served near the frontlines. It gives historical background information and is illustrated with many black and white pictures. The entertaining and vivid writing is especially attractive for young readers.

Free a Man to Fight! Women Soldiers of Word War II by Mindy Pomper & RYS Productions (1999) . Great video that features rare archival footage interwoven with intimate interviews of women who served in the military during WWII. It includes several interviews with former members of the ANC. Unfortuntaley, the documentary contains a few mistakes. More information about these inaccuracies can be found here

(1991) This documentary consists mainly of original newsreel stories to detail the vital contributions made by women during World War II, going from the factories to the battlefields.
